Who is eligible for a FREE Hearing Test?

Hearing Services Program recognises below card holders for a Free Hearing Test.

Centrelink Pension Concession Card Holder
DVA Pension Concession Card
DVA Gold Health Repatriation Card
DVA White Health Repatriation Card (for Hearing Loss)
Dependent of a Concession Card Holder.

Unfortunately, cards like Health Card & Seniors Card aren't recognised by the Hearing Services Program for the subsidy.

Tympanometry & Acoustic Reflexes: This test examines the health of the eardrum and the middle ear. This is an objective test and provides clear indication of any middle ear involvement that could be potentially resolved via medical management.

What happens after the Hearing Test in Pensioners & Veterans?

Following a hearing test, an audiologist at Family Hearing Centre would be able to discuss the results of the test in detail and guide you in the appropriate direction for management or treatment. In some cases, the patients are referred back to GP or ENT specialist for medical management. In other cases, audiologists at Family Hearing Centre continue to discuss rehabilitative methods of managing hearing loss. The most common method is fitting hearing aids. Annually. However, if at any stage one feels there is a change to hearing abilities, you are eligible for a FREE hearing test.
How long does the test take?

About 1 hour which includes a comprehensive test and discussion of results.
I had a hearing test at another hearing provider? Can I visit another hearing service provider for a hearing test?

The simple answer is Yes. The new service provider would be able to conduct a hearing test if they are an accredited provider by HSP.
